HORSES FOR SALE

Each year, we select a few of our very finest horses and offer them for sale. These are horses that have worked their way up through our various programs and who we feel best represent us, our ranch, and our preferred type of horse. These are horses on which we are proud to place our brand and our name.

Here at the Mantle Ranch, we take very seriously our claim to lease and sell solid, gentle, proven trail horses. If a horse is in our trail horse sale lineup, we have taken the time over many months and usually years to know the horse well enough to make that claim. These are horses we feel confidant enough to represent as safe, family horses. We sell only the best. Our prices reflect the time and experience they have with us and their overall versatility, both in their abilities and in the type of rider that can enjoy them.

If you are more interested in a younger horse, check out our Prospects for Sale. Our "prospects" are many other's "finished" horses. If they are on our Prospects for Sale list, we feel they have the potential to be solid, gentle, proven horses, but simply lack the age or experience to have proven themselves over time to us. They possess all the qualities we find desireable in a horse; gentleness, versatility, good mind, sound conformation. These "prospects" are horses we believe are best placed with a certain type of rider, usually more confidant and versatile horsemen who possess the skills necessary to best utilize younger, smart horses with their lives of refinement ahead of them.

Our lineup is being updated continually. Since we're riding these horses and running the ranch ourselves daily, sometimes we are a little tardy in keeping things posted. 2004 AQHA Brown Gelding

Wylie is at the perfect age! We've owed him since he was a two year old and have used him ourselves exclusively. He is a solid, gentle, sound, and gorgeous ranch horse. Nice bone, super conformation (check out his stellar AQHA papers here), he is absolutely one of the best looking and nicest horses we've had in our personal saddle horse pen. We've used him for all sorts of ranch work and ridden him in the mountains on our private trips and trail rides. No spook, no bad habits, he's got a nice quiet and sensible mind and the stocky build and determination for most any discipline you wish to take him in. And he's a big pet you can catch absolutely anywhere. $7500

Handsom Ransom is back! Always in demand from his summer lessees, we've pulled this favorite horse to offer him for sale this year. We've owned him since he was two years old, he's one of our "go to" horses and hands-down one of the most seasoned and versatile horses we own. Ransom foxhunts every year, and has even whipped-in. He is a staple on the Horse Drive, ridden by both novice and advanced riders. He packs game and has spent every fall in mountain camp, has been in kid programs as a kid horse and lesson horse, and has not missed a summer as a saddle horse and proven money earner. He is gentle, sound, very athletic, well-mannered, gorgeous, and finally held back for sale. This is one of our very special offerings, as you can tell, we love him. In the summers, he sheds out to a beautiful dark brown, almost black.

KID HORSE - 1993 ApHC Sorrel Appaloosa Gelding for Sale

There isn't much we haven't asked Mooch to do over the last 15 years we've had him. I've trailed cows into the Colorado Mantle Ranch (roughest and steepest country I've ridden) on him and he's packed kids off the "Ride The Edge" trail. He's been on several Chief Jospeh Trail Rides, is always on the Horse Drive, and foxhunts when asked. He's our go-to guy. I trust him with my mother, all levels of children riders, and he packs game and adults just fine too. He has been in camp, in trail strings, in the arena, and the backcountry. This is the perfect horse for timid riders, small children, or even older folks who just want a nice smooth ride. He's got a sweet little jog that is comfy all day and is sure-footed and sound. "Mooch" got his name for a reason. He's just part of the family and always has his hand in the cookie jar.
