Make one call to the Mantle Ranch and you will find a forever friend willing to help you with your specific need.   We lost our own "old reliables" to old age and after searching in vain for a safe, sane trail horse, we contacted Montana Horses.   Since 2007 we have purchased 2 horses from Kail and Renee. We first acquired Rio, a sorrel QH gelding in September 2007 as the lead horse for our own personal packstring of 2.   He is an unflappable, honest and perfect trail horse.   My husband Craig rode him the first summer but I fell in love with his quiet demeanor and ended up claiming him as my own personal ride of choice.   So, of course, we went back to Kail and Renee for another horse for Craig.   In May, 2008, we purchased Muskrat, a huge draft cross gelding. At first a bit skeptical about his size (16.2hh), he has proved to be a perfect addition to our string and the lead horse as well.  A perfect gentleman in every way. The Mantle Ranch is a wonderful experience in itself, like stepping back in time. Nestled in a scenic valley near the Missouri River, you are always greeted like an old friend with true western hospitality. The ranch is neat-as-a-pin and an adventure with herds of horses of every shape, size, color and breed. Wildlife abounds there, as well, with glimpses of elk, deer and antelope roaming it’s vistas. I cannot begin to express the gratification I have for Kail and Renee for everything they have done for us. They truly love what they are doing, and are doing what they love. Both are willing to listen and help in any way they can to make sure you are fully satisfied with the horse you purchase. I encourage anyone to give them a call for a safe trail horse!
